Through discussion of molecular dynamics in living cells in the context of varied microenvironments, develop an understanding of cellular behaviour based on intracellular events in response to extracellular stimuli. Specific topics include receptor-ligand interatctions, morphogens, signal transduction, cell growth & differentiation, cell adhesion and migration, trafficking, and mechanotransduction. Examples from in vitro culture systems and model organisms in vivo are used to support discussions.
