12.2L/36.6P

A design course intended to have students synthesize and apply the technical knowledge and communication skills gained in previous courses. Students work in teams, under the supervision of the course instructor, to develop a creative, effective and sustainable solution to a complex, multi-faceted transportation design problem. Students engage in all aspects of a design project, including problem definition and scoping, investigation, proposal preparation, generation of alternative solutions, modelling and analysis, refinement, final design, and written, graphical and oral communication. The focus of this course is to engage in strategic level design involving high level analysis and evaluation of alternatives for a transportation system problem. Strategic level design typically considers a broad range of technical, social, economic and environmental considerations.
